Perth tips from a local...

If you have time between sessions you may like to check out the following, all within 10 minutes walk of the Convention Centre...

Arguably the best coffee in the central city can be found at Rosso, on St Georges Terrace ('The Terrace' if you want to sound like a local!), between Sherwood Court and Howard St. Very popular with lawyers and stockbrokers, it gets busy in the mornings but you can always grab a takeaway.

For almost anything you may have forgotten to bring to Perth (an umbrella perhaps?) try the Hay St mall - you'll find David Jones, Target, pharmacies, bookshops, bootmakers and more. Stores are open from 9am until 5.30pm, with late night trading on Fridays.

For local and international designer clothing and accessories head to King St. You'll also find some great galleries, cafes and bars on one of Perth's coolest streets.

If you're in desperate need of a glass of pinot gris or an emergency martini, try Bar One on Milligan St, between Hay St and Murray St. Open from breakfast until 9pm weekdays.

Dear friends
If you're looking for some serious authentic indian food (vegetarian), and what more "pay as you like and pay as you feel" you may want to try the Annalakshmi restaurant on the Swan (Barrack St Jetty - walking distance from the Convention centre). More info in http://annalakshmi.com.au/mission/
